Dust mops, cut-end, loop-end, microfiber β€” how to choose the right mop type, material, and size for your facility.

Which Mop Type Is Right for You?

Four mop categories, each designed for different tasks and facility needs.

Proper Mop Care & Color Coding

A well-maintained mop cleans better, lasts longer, and prevents cross-contamination.

Washing & Replacing

Rinse after every use
Wring out thoroughly and rinse in clean water. Never leave a mop sitting in dirty solution.
Launder weekly (or more)
Machine wash loop-end and microfiber heads in warm water with bleach-free detergent. Air dry or tumble dry low.
Replace on schedule
Cut-end: every 1-3 months. Loop-end: every 6-12 months. Microfiber: when pads stop absorbing or develop odor after washing.
Store upright
Hang mops head-up on a wall rack or store in a mop holder. Never leave wet mops on the floor β€” this breeds bacteria.
Never mix chemicals
Dedicate mop heads to specific solutions. A mop used for stripping should never be used for finishing.

Color Coding System

Color coding prevents cross-contamination between zones. Many healthcare and food service regulations require it.

Red
Restrooms β€” toilets, urinals, high-contamination areas
Blue
General cleaning β€” offices, corridors, common areas
Green
Food service β€” kitchens, cafeterias, break rooms
Yellow
Isolation areas β€” healthcare, chemical spills

Pro Tip

Label your mop handles and matching bucket with the same color tape. Train all staff on the system. Even two colors (red for restrooms, blue for everything else) dramatically reduces contamination risk.

The Right Mop for Your Industry

Our recommendations based on what works across thousands of facilities.

Healthcare

Microfiber Flat Mop

Reduces cross-contamination with single-use pads. Uses less chemical. Color coding prevents zone cross-over.

Food Service

Rayon Cut-End or Loop-End

Rayon is lint-free for food areas. Chemical resistant for sanitizer solutions. Easy to sanitize and replace.

Schools

Loop-End + 36" Dust Mop

Loop-end handles heavy traffic hallways. 36" dust mop covers classrooms efficiently. Durability lowers cost per year.

Office Buildings

Microfiber or Loop-End

Microfiber for daily restroom and break room cleaning. Loop-end for periodic deep mopping of lobbies and corridors.

Warehouse

48-60" Dust Mop + Loop-End #32

Wide dust mops for massive floor areas. Large-capacity wet mop for spill cleanup and dock areas.

Manufacturing

Synthetic Blend Loop-End

Chemical-resistant for industrial cleaners. Heavy-duty for oil, grease, and machine shop floors. Long lifespan.
